I got my hands on a new album this past week. Fleet Foxes self-titled debut is a far cry from the usual indie pseudo hipster rock I usually listen to but let me assure you, it’s a welcome diversion. The folksie melodious songs are filled with interesting and well constructed instrumentals along with Robin Pecknold’s unique but on key vocals make this Seattle-based quintet a welcome addition to the Sub Pop family. I really wasn’t too sure about how I would like this style of music but it’s really far different than what’s out there these days in terms of new music. It’s very reminiscent of The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds and Brian Wilson’s Smile which is great because those are two of my favorite albums.
